Earth Summit Simulation

Recently I was a part of an Earth Summit Simulation. This involved other students on my course and I representing different countries.

The goal we were given to achieve was to become carbon neutral by 2100. Based on this goal we had to construct an argument as to whether we would aim to complete this goal or not, based on the opinion of the country we were representing was.

My group was given the USA to represent. We felt that the USA would not agree with the goal that was given based on the fact that they pulled out of the Paris agreement which is far less ambitious than the goal that was presented for the Earth summit simulation.

We decided that we would make a short video showing our stance on this matter.

Reflection

This was quite a challenge to represent the USA, mainly because there is very little scientific evidence to support their view, so it was difficult to present a convincing argument to the rest of the group. But I really enjoyed getting into the role of representing the USA and I certainly learnt a lot.
